ABOUT ROBERT DARDEN
Always interested in design and construction, Rob considered a variety of career paths before settling on architecture. This decision lead him to attend and graduate from Temple University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree.
However, his career path was diverted from design to construction, with his first work assignment at the Newark Public Schools, in the Design and Construction department for eight years. There, he learned the other side of the design/construction world - working with contractors, scheduling and overseeing school construction projects.
While performing his project manager duties, Rob never stayed far from his design roots. He used the time in construction to gain his architecture licenses in both New Jersey and New York, which he maintains to this day.
Rob also used his combined knowledge for various small side assignments, ranging from small home renovations to additions, and some commercial projects.
After, the Newark Public school work, he worked for various construction management firms, both large and small, still performing crucial project management work while using every opportunity to learn. To this end, Rob attended the Stevens Institute of Technology, earning a Master of Science degree in Construction Management in 1999.
Recently, Rob has found the opportunity to return to design work, both working for non-profit groups and completing residential work.
Rob believes in providing quality design work, utilizing his experience in the construction realm, which gives him a unique understanding of project design and completion. In addition, Rob has expanded his interest and understanding of sustainable design and construction methods, which he passes onto his clients as an added service.
Rob keeps abreast of all current sustainable design and construction methods through his ongoing affiliations and memberships in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Rob attends periodic conferences and events to expand both his knowledge of important sustainable design and construction trends and his professional network.
